Everyone is understandably on edge. Change often happens with a bang rather than a whisper. The conjunction of Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn in January were setting the stage for change – as they are wont to do every 33-38 years. 2020 also marks the end of a significant cycle on this planet.

The transits of the Sun, Mercury and Neptune in Pisces are currently carrying the vulnerable version of change. Neptune will remain in Pisces for about six more years.

Those with mutable planets significantly placed in their natal charts (Gemini, Pisces, Virgo and Sagittarius) will feel this Piscean vulnerability most acutely. You will likely feel the most concerned right now – particularly if Neptune is making a hard aspect with your sun, moon or ascendant (conjunction, opposition or square).

Even though the virus was potentially making its presence known in November (when the sun was in Sagittarius), it is peaking now in Pisces as a right of passage. Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac, or the 12th, and represents the watery bridge between self and other. Pisces knows no boundaries in this regard. What hurts you, hurts me.

Once the Sun moves out of Pisces by March 21st, as well as Saturn ingressing into Aquarius, the infectious mood will feel more contained. Once Mercury leaves Pisces on April 11th, communication about the virus will feel a bit less frenetic. But we will still be left with Mars, Pluto and Jupiter in Capricorn, which represent huge structural shifts. Much like we see structures breaking down under Pisces, new structures will be enforced.

The last Saturn-Pluto conjunction happened at the end of 1982. A short but devastating recession following Reagan’s election occurred, as well as the announcement of the AIDS epidemic. The Saturn-Pluto conjunction prior to that happened in 1947 following the end of WWII, which birthed the nation of Israel, the Polio epidemic and the beginning of The Cold War. The Saturn-Pluto conjunction of 1914 coincided with the beginning of WWI, followed by The Spanish Flu that killed millions by 1918-20.

Significant changes in the way we do business and support ourselves financially will be part of the re-structuring of 2020, in addition to our current health concerns. As 2020 bookends the Earth Trigon, a 200 +year cycle of earth-branded materialism, the Saturn-Pluto conjunction heralds in the next 200 year cycle of Air.

We’ve already seen the Air energy filter its way into our consciousness, as more and more people are beginning to see current structures cause unnecessary suffering. Through various ideologies, the acknowledgement that we are spiritual beings having a human experience is an important adaptation. We are evolving.

Hegemony will find a new outlet with Air. Some of it will involve technological innovation and space travel, some of it will involve Artificial Intelligence. It will be liberating for those who have been oppressed by immovable systems and devastating for those who are attached to the way things have been.

Earth energy can feel heavy and burdensome – and with the outer planets transiting through serious Capricorn, it will continue to feel a lot like a death rattle. It is an internment of old systems. The more we hold onto what is decaying, the more it will feel like complete annihilation. The suffering of the last two hundred years is palpable – especially for those who have been oppressed by slavery, racism, prejudice, privilege, gender-identity, sexism and patriarchy.

As long as we accept this with curiosity rather than fear, we can encourage deeper levels of consciousness. We are more than what we own, what we make and what we have. With this acknowledgement comes revolution. Whatever limiting beliefs we may have are literally being stripped away from us, which can be unbelievably freeing.
