The Three Kings
Before I post the chart of Ukraine, I wanted to do a synastry chart overlay for America’s relationships with Russia and China. While it doesn’t necessarily predict future outcomes, it does help illuminate their relationships. As the three current superpowers of the world might go to war with each other, it makes sense to start here.
I was mentioning in my USA post that an empty 1st house in the natal chart is worth noting. This 3-chart overlay helps explain why. The U.S. is the inner circle, China is the middle circle and Russia is the outer circle.
Look at how Russia’s 5th house stellium in Capricorn occupies the 1st house of the U.S. This includes not only the Uranus-Neptune conjunction but also Mars. Having the Sun and north node there can be generally positive. It’s like a solar power enhancing the house of appearances and identity. But it’s difficult to see anything positive about Uranus and Neptune there.
Uranus in the 1st house overlay denotes this person gives you a feeling of stress and potential unworthiness. There is a feeling of constant breakdown in regards to your personal image. In other words, if the energy feels like someone who is radically challenging how you are perceived, then you may not like them very much.
Neptune in the 1st house overlay creates a spiritual bond – almost like a twin flame. I know that sounds new age-y but there is an opportunity here for idealization. However, because Neptune also loves deception, the relationship is bound to be based in fantasy. Will this person betray me or idealize me? There is no definitive answer in Neptune’s realm.
Mars in the 1st house overlay is pretty much always contentious. The bullying can go both ways, but the Mars person gets under the skin of the house person. This is a relationship based on competition.
Of course this is the most recent chart for Russia. The U.S. has had issues with Russia for the last 100 years or so. Discouraging the spread of Communism is a key reason.
Russia’s Saturn is in the U.S. 2nd house of money and finances. Representing a stern disciplinarian, Saturn here encourages a financial restriction and a need to watch spending habits. Russia’s Saturn is also within 1 degree of the U.S. south node.
China’s Jupiter is in the U.S. 2nd house conjunct Pluto. Jupiter magnifies Pluto’s influence, so in the 2nd house of products and finances, the manufacturing relationship that developed between the two nations allowed the U.S. to continue the availability of cheap goods. “Made in China” became ubiquitous. China even began buying all of the electronic waste from the U.S. and has spent years sorting through it for repurposing.
China’s Ascendant and Moon are also in the U.S. 2nd house overlay. This is about both parties finding each other valuable in a financial sense. There may be some possessiveness on the part of the 2nd house person. This is a bigger issue when we expand our lens. We can’t really discuss 2nd house issues without looking at the opposite 8th house here.
China’s Pluto-Mars conjunction in Leo is in the U.S. 8th house overlay. This means that China most certainly has the upper hand in regards to shared resources. Mars and Pluto conjunct the north node in synastry is very inauspicious. The conjunction is wide, however.
Also, China’s Mars-Pluto happens to tightly conjunct Russia’s Ascendant at 17 degrees Leo. So we’ve got Russia’s Mars close to the U.S. Ascendant, and China’s Mars exactly conjunct Russia’s ascendant. All in fire signs! Extreme competition is a given between these three.
Looking at Russia’s planets in the U.S. 8th house, we’ve got Chiron in Leo closely conjunct the north node. Will Russia play a healing role in America’s future? Or will it emphasize the pain involved in healing?
The U.S. Chiron is also conjunct China’s North Node in Aries within 4 degrees in the 4th house overlay. Actually, we are close to the U.S. Chiron Return at 20 degrees Aries. Chiron is transiting Aries at 16 degrees currently and will reach 20 degrees by the end of April 2024. That seems like a potent time for the U.S.
China’s Uranus at 4 degrees Cancer is in the 7th house of the U.S. This is a relationship built on unpredictability and stress. Not at all stable. Combined with Russia’s Uranus in the U.S. 1st house all I see is erratic activity.
Russia’s south node at 9 degrees Cancer is right on the U.S. Cancer stellium in the 7th house. If south node relationships, specifically involving benefics like Venus and Jupiter, hold us back in memories of the past, there is a lack of progress here. Who feels more held back?
Looking the U.S. 9th house, Russia’s Jupiter is tightly conjunct China’s Saturn at 14-13 degrees Virgo. Now isn’t that interesting. This might be the most revealing of all. Jupiter conjunct Saturn in synastry usually denotes an incredibly stable, longterm bond. There is mutual commitment and respect here.
What U.S. planet is here? Neptune at 22 degrees Virgo. It is a wide conjunction, but having these two nations forming a tight bond in your 9th house of foreign relations doesn’t bode well for your future fomenting power over them. Especially with Neptune in the 9th house. Delusion and fantasy are your weakness.
China’s Libra stellium lands in the U.S. 10th house of public recognition and career. China’s Mercury, Neptune and south node are tightly conjunct the U.S. Saturn. While Mercury conjunct Saturn in synastry can be serious and pragmatic, having Neptune there too causes miscommunication and deception. This is happening in China’s 8th house, mind you, so communications between these two are deeply Underworld. Major trust issues.
Russia’s Pluto is tightly conjunct China’s Venus (and its own Venus) at 21-19 degrees Scorpio. This is happening in the U.S. 11th house of friendships and groups. Again, another tight bond between Russia and China that doesn’t bode well for America.
Russia’s Venus is also tightly conjunct China’s Midheaven (M.C. or 10th house) in the U.S. 12th house of dreams and illusions. This conjunction also involves Russia’s Pluto and China’s Venus. This is a powerful relationship in the world of career and public reputation. Pluto conjunct the M.C. in synastry isn’t always easy and can definitely involve power struggles, but on the whole this is another strong bond that leaves the U.S. a bit in the “three is a crowd” category.
Even though Russia’s Mercury within 1 degree conjunct the U.S. Ascendant at 11 degrees Sagittarius eases communication, it would be more beneficial if it were a Mercury-Descendant conjunction. This may help in superficial diplomatic relations, but because of Russia’s stellium in the U.S. 1st house, it likely feels as if Russia is telling the U.S. who they are, or who they should be.
